Before LOVE turns to HATE - Supporting

UBA has just started their "Violence against the elderly" prevention campaign.

We all grow older and hope to become Golden-Agers at some point in the future. But don’t we all want to be treated in a respectful and caring way when we are old and when we need to depend on help from others?

UBA, the Unabhängige Beschwerdestelle für das Alter, is a long-term Nexell customer, working with Salesforce for complaints management and efficient information processing. Complaints management, related to society's Golden Agers, is a complex matter, requiring a high degree of kindness, confidentiality and responsibility in our society and includes multiple target groups and stakeholders. With the right support and the right technology in place, UBA is able to focus on its mission and pursue its goals.

Everybody wants to have a self-determined, worthy life in their golden age. But in reality, things are different.

Violence in the old age has many faces: financial exploitation, neglect, physical harm, freedom deprivation, threats or intimidation. Often, all this happens quietly and unnoticed in a private environment - where relatives, caregivers or third parties exceed their own limits of resilience.

Every fifth elderly person in Switzerland is touched by violence!

The experience of the UBA shows that caregivers, whilst looking after older family members or people in the need of care, often contend with multiple responsibilities (career, family life and care/ nursing of relatives). People often end up in a situation where they have to care for another, sometimes a close person. Also at risk are the people who feel bound to care for a person in need, due to their long-lived loyalty in the relationship. It takes a lot of courage to admit that one is overloaded, has bad feelings or thoughts of bad deeds.

UBA is therefore launching their information campaign “Before Love turns to Hate” to raise awareness and to call attention to the mistreatment of the elderly.

Violence in the old age is a taboo topic that nobody likes to talk about.

It is not about convictions and not about good or bad. The UBA informs and raises awareness of the risk of overburdening and offers assistance for orientation and the planning of a care situation, at home or in managed facilities.

UBA is located in the North-West region of Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Central Switzerland and in Zürich/Schaffhausen

The UBA clarifies, moderates and mediates in conflict and violent situations. All cases reported to UBA are managed and handled by volunteers, mostly retired experts (i.e. doctors, lawyers, nursing home managers, qualified nurses, theologians, ethicists). The offered services are free of charge.

Nexell is infinitely proud of the work and support provided to the UBA team, over many years, helping them improve society, in an area which we all hope to achieve, a peaceful, healthy & trouble free retirement.
