Our Top 3 Salesforce Summer ‘20 Release Features

Salesforce is clearly the best CRM tool in the market when it comes to boosting Sales efficiency, taking Marketing  to the next level and making the most out of your customer data.  

Just this June Salesforce was named again the leader in the Gartner 2020 Magic Quadrant for CRM Customer Engagement Center with no other competitor being able to challenge its completeness of vision and execution abilities.

But just as impressive as it's leadership per se is Salesforce’s capability to constantly keep innovating.
Salesforce delivers hundreds of innovative features to its impressive ecosystem three times a year during their seasonal releases: Spring, Summer, and Winter. And with every release Salesforce becomes more powerful and its users more efficient.

Using Cloud technology, these upgrades happen seamlessly, fully automatic and are delivered in real time - with no downtime.

Each Salesforce release follows in a predictable path, starting about 3 months before Go-Live in production. Upgrades happen automatically on specific dates that are published up to a year in advance on the Salesforce Trust website.

For the Summer 2020 upgrade, for example, the schedule looked as follows:

Among all the great new functions Salesforce has built, these are our Top 3: 

1.Dynamic Forms

Once in a while salesforce releases a new feature which changes everything. Dynamic forms is one of these features and clearly takes the top spot in our list. 

Simply put, Dynamic Forms gives Admins the ability to create and manage sub-sections of page layouts and then to use additional features to show or hide fields and sections.

The impact of Dynamic Forms functionality within the App Builder will be significant given that the Lightning App Builder  is every Admin’s go-to-location to customise the User Interface of Lightning Record Pages. 

As a powerful tool it allows you to customise the position and content of record detail page components such as Quick Links, Related Objects, Chatter and Activities. 

Yet, Lightning App Builder’s power surprisingly ended at one point: when it came to fields and sections. 

In order to customise them, you still needed to go back to the page layout editor and edit each one individually. Not any more.

With Dynamic Forms, you can now move the fields and sections from your page layout as single components into the Lightning App Builder. Then, you can customise them just like the other components on the page, and give users only the fields and sections that they need!

Users will instantly benefit from being able to place fields and sections wherever they want without having to switch back to the Page Layout editor in Setup. Also, page layout times will significantly improve as fields and sections are put into accordion components or tabs. 

Some call Dynamic Forms already the biggest new feature since the introduction of the Process Builder...

2. Salesforce Optimizer App

The Salesforce Optimizer provides every Admin with an insight into the performance and health of their org.

With the Summer 2020 release, Admins can now follow best-practices as set by Salesforce and take advantage of using an interactive app to check their org instead of downloading a PDF download like before. 

Or in short, with the Summer 2020 release, Org maintenance becomes fun by letting a robot do it for you.  

To use the Optimizer, you do not need to install any package. You just enable the app, click to run it, and sit back while Salesforce scrutinises the Org. 

The Optimizer then identifies issues that require immediate attention, displays them in a sortable results list view and immediately provides actionable recommendations to plan the next steps. 

But why is this such a big deal? 

Simply because previously you could only use Optimizer content by scrolling through an English language report delivered as a PDF file...

Now, Org maintenance becomes easier, faster and much more fun. Instead of scrolling through pages of a PDF report for results and the required next steps, you can now take full advantage of the sortable results list view. And the Optimizer’s split-view console navigation functionality makes it easy to review results without losing any context.

From the list view, just take a look at the Results first (1) and check the automated Recommendations (2). From there, just refer to the list of data which has automatically been prepared for you (3) and move to the Setup page to make any changes for over 40 features analyzed as part of the Optimizer.

3. New Email Insight

Einstein, Einstein, Einstein…

Salesforce Einstein Artificial Intelligence capabilities took the users’ hearts by storm. And with every release, Einstein gets smarter  - and its users more efficient. 

Example? 

If you use Einstein Activity capture you may have noticed that Einstein started showing you insights it gained from previous conversations… and with the Summer 2020 release users can now take more advantage from that: the new ‘Not Interested email insight’ lets you know if a customer prefers not to continue a sales conversation - without even opening the email!

Simply refer to the ‘Not Interested’ sign next to the email header in the activity timeline and  immediately know which conversations to focus on to close the deals - and which not.

Einstein Email Insights then also displays the relevant sales context for emails connected to the Salesforce records.

If you want to use  New Email Insight and already use Einstein Activity Capture through a Sales Cloud Einstein, then there’s nothing you need to do - Email Insights are on by default!
